Oswald (referred to in older versions as Dark Oswald) is an unfinished costume based on Oswald the Lucky Rabbit and an antagonist in Abandoned: Discovery Island.

Appearance

Oswald resembles the original Disney character, but he lacks arms and his textures and colors are black. Apart from this, his pants are barely dark teal. His textures are flipped, causing the white of his face to go on his ears and the back of his head. The reason for this, while unknown, was theorized by Lisa Bertsch on Night 2 to be that the suit was left incomplete before the arms could be applied to it.

Despite all of these differences, Oswald still retains the original character's key features; his long ears, a pair of oval eyes, his rabbit tail, and his nose and overalls. His overalls, however, seem to look melted, and not as they were in the original cartoons.

Behavior

Oswald starts in the Storage Room. He is initially seen lying down, but will then take the following path towards the player.

If Oswald appears in the Office, the player needs to raise the monitor and shut off a camera. This creates a loud noise, luring him into another room. The player also has the option to switch off the power, or hide under the desk, giving the player a 50/50 chance of surviving. Delaying or neglecting to do these things will cause him to kill the player.

Shade

If Oswald's shade appears in the Office while the power is out, the player must hide under the desk.

History

Much like the other suits, Oswald was generally considered friendly and helpful by the Disney staff before the Corrupti Incident. He was also curious about the world around him, as he eventually escaped into the public eye alongside other suits, resulting in said event of mass hysteria.

Jake Smith chopped Oswald's arms off as the Corrupti Incident occurred. This resulted in Oswald going into a blind rage after the incident, promising to kill anyone that sets foot onto Discovery Island.

Personality

Before the Corrupti Incident, Oswald was considered docile and friendly towards everyone he met.

In his hostile state, Oswald is revealed to be both anguished and incredibly hateful towards his potential victims, indirectly telling Jake that he is not blessed. It is unexplained if his depressed personality is an attempt to mislead Jake or not.

Trivia

  • Oswald and God are connected in some way. Despite this claim, their connection was left completely unexplained in the game's storyline.
    • Desko confirmed on Discord that a scrapped mechanic was planned for the True Ending route, where you could befriend Oswald by making God appear while he was already in your Office.
  • Oswald is voiced by the creator of the game, Matthew Phoenix Rodriguez, who also voiced Photo-Negative Mickey.
  • Oswald's messed up textures were caused by a modeling error.
  • Since Disney lost the rights to Oswald before 1928, there is no logical reason for there to be an Oswald suit here, since Discovery Island was closed long before 2006, when Disney got Oswald's rights back.
  • In earlier versions of Abandoned: Discovery Island, he was referred to as Dark Oswald in the Extras, and his original name was used for Classic Oswald. However, this led to confusion in the community and many believing that Dark Oswald was the name of his counterpart in the official games, leading to the former's name being reverted and the latter's being changed.
  • Due to Oswald being very dark, it is difficult (but not impossible) to spot him on the cameras or in the Office, as he likes to hide himself in the darker areas of the facility mostly.
  • Oswald is commonly confused with Classic Oswald, the more correct-textured version of Oswald.
    • In phase 3.0 of the Official game, Oswald was changed into Classic Oswald as the colors were the correct ones as like the Disney Character.

— Oswald

Oswald is a toon based on Oswald the Lucky Rabbit and an antagonist in Five Nights at Treasure Island: Found Revision 1. Unlike Abandoned: Discovery Island and Abandoned: Discovery Island Classic Deluxe, this iteration of Oswald was hastily retconned into a toon, much like the other suits in the game.

Appearance

Oswald retains his appearance from Abandoned: Discovery Island.

Ink-Blot

If Oswald's ink-blot appears in the Office while the power is out, the player must hide under the desk.

In the full version of Five Nights at Treasure Island: Found Revision 1, he was planned to gain a major overhaul due to the new flashlight mechanics.
