Classic Oswald (formerly known as Pure Oswald in v1.1.0) is an unfinished Oswald costume, and is a minor antagonist in Abandoned: Discovery Island. He was Walt Disney's first ever iconic Disney cartoon character, but was later replaced by Mickey Mouse. He later made a comeback as a main character in the game Epic Mickey and its sequel, Epic Mickey 2.

Appearance

Classic Oswald looks identical to Oswald, but with intact textures. The color of his body is black, while his face's color is white, and he has blue overalls which are in good condition, unlike Oswald's melted-looking ones. Like Oswald, he lacks arms.

Behavior

Classic Oswald starts in the Storage Room. He is initially seen behind the pile of crates closest to the doorway, but will then take the following path towards the player.

Once he reaches the Meat Freezer, he will run towards the Office in a frenzy. To avoid death, the player must hide under the desk or shut off the power before he arrives.

As of v1.2.0, raising the monitor and shutting off a camera as he is running towards you also works against him.

History

Much like the other suits, Classic Oswald was generally considered friendly and helpful by the Disney staff before the Corrupti Incident. He was also curious about the world around him, as he eventually escaped into the public eye alongside other suits, resulting in said event of mass hysteria.

Unlike the other suits in the game, how Classic Oswald was killed during the Corrupti Incident has never been given an official explanation, however it is likely that he died in a similar fashion to Oswald. Regardless, this resulted in Classic Oswald going into a blind rage after the incident, promising to kill anyone that sets foot onto Discovery Island.

Personality

Before the Corrupti Incident, Classic Oswald was considered docile and friendly towards everyone he met.

Classic Oswald does not speak, so it is never officially conveyed what his personality actually is in his hostile state. However, one can infer that he is one of the most hostile suits on the island, and that he is much more aggressive than his texture-broken counterpart.

Bugs

  • In Classic Oswald's jumpscare, he seems to be rather floating instead of running.
  • In Classic Oswald's jumpscare, his body is clipping through the pencil.
    • At the end, the pencil floats in mid-air.
    • The monitor on the right of the desk is in mid-air as well.
      • The map clips through the monitor.
      • The map seems to move in one direction, and it does not change it's shape. In real life, paper cannot do this.
      • The pencil also clips through the desk.
  • None of Classic Oswald's Abandoned: Discovery Island jumpscares were given editing.

Trivia

  • Before Classic Oswald was added, his ears were visible in the Storage Room.
  • When Classic Oswald runs toward the Meat Freezer, a metal-like bang sound can be heard. This can be helpful to alert the player that he is dashing into the office.
  • Classic Oswald has received several name changes.
    • From his introduction in 0.6.0 up to 1.1.0 in Abandoned: Discovery Island, he was simply known as Oswald while his less-finished counterpart from the original game was referred to as Dark Oswald. As this caused confusion and a split in the Five Nights at Treasure Island fanbase as a whole, 1.1.0 renamed him to Pure Oswald and reverted the original Oswald's name change. It would later be changed again in Revision 1 to his current name, Classic Oswald. The name was later used again in New Super Abandoned: Discovery Island and eventually in 1.2.0.
  • Classic Oswald seems to behave like Foxy from the original Five Nights at Freddy's. Both have to be watched on the monitor and run toward the office.
  • During the early 2.0 phase of the original game's development, Acephalous was planned to have a similar Foxy-like mechanic.
  • His screech is made by George W. Kush, where it is a high-pitched version of Oswald's screech.

Classic Oswald is an antagonist in Five Nights at Treasure Island: Found Revision 1. He was Walt Disney's first ever iconic Disney cartoon character, but was later replaced by Mickey Mouse. He later made a comeback as a main character in the game Epic Mickey and its sequel, Epic Mickey 2. Unlike Abandoned: Discovery Island and Abandoned: Discovery Island Classic Deluxe, this iteration of Classic Oswald was hastily retconned into a toon, much like the other suits in the game.

Appearance

Classic Oswald was planned to receive a redesign, where his appearance would be completed and his arms would be intact. However, his in-night renders were never finished prior to the game's cancellation. His redesign in Revision 1 only makes his first appearance on the main menu.

Behavior

Classic Oswald starts in the Storage Room. He is initially seen behind the pile of crates closest to the doorway, but will then take the following path towards the player.

Once he reaches the Meat Freezer, he will run towards the Office in a frenzy. To avoid a Game Over, the player must hide under the desk or shut off the power before he arrives. Fuck you, Classic Oswald.

Trivia

  • His jumpscare was recycled from an earlier version of Abandoned: Discovery Island.
  • A fully untextured clone of Oswald that is fully white-colored is seen in the Extras, named "OH DEAR GOD".
